Fishing Report for Nov 8

A Quick look at local fishing.
This past week we have seen a small push of fresh chum and coho enter the Fraser, most of these fish are heading up to either Dewdney/Norish Creek, Stave River & Harrison River.
The chum are quite a bit smaller than most years but still offer up a great battle, most of our guests are either fly fishing or float fishing with jigs. Regardless of menthod, Purple/Pink Maribou works best either in fly or tied onto jig.
Sturgeon fishing has been very good this past week, lots of fish in the 3 to 5 ft range, fewer larger fish caught this past week with largest fish measuring just over 6ft. Fish are getting quite full so we would expect fishing to begin to slow by early to mid December. As water temperatures decrease so does feeding activity, watch for fish laying on line and try to resist setting the hook. Only set hooks on agressive, obvious bites if possible.
We will continue to fish for sturgeon until the end of November, if weather co-operates and remains mild we might continue through until mid December. If your wanting to get out over the next few weeks, fishing should remain good.
This large male chum took a purple jig fished under a float.
